Special Projects

Donations by community members and sponsors fund special projects that make our library a truly unique and inviting space.

After a four-year, $10.5 million renovation, the main library downtown reopened to the public in 2015 with an expansive and welcoming new children’s area. The Lafayette Public Library Foundation contributed to this project by underwriting the cost of the wonderful “Once Upon a Time” mural that welcomes visitors to the room.

Appearing at festivals, farmer’s markets, and neighborhoods throughout Lafayette, LPL’s Bookmobile is a welcome sight for many families without reliable transportation to the library. The Lafayette Public Library Foundation underwrote the cost of covering this wonderful asset with a colorful and engaging wrap that stands out anywhere!
